Description: Stem subterranean, 20–40 cm diam.
Leaves 2–8 in crown, 60–120 cm long, rachis not twisted to moderately twisted; pinnae 90–120, grey-green to blue, dull; longest pinnae 16–25 cm long, 4–7 mm wide, usually dichotomously branched, basal pinnae not reduced to spines; petiole 12–25 cm long, 9–12 mm wide.
Male cones 25 cm long, 5–6 cm diam.; spines 0.2–1.5 cm long. Female cones 18–23 cm long, 9–11 cm diam.; spines 0.2–1 cm long; seeds ovoid, 3–3.4 cm long, 2.4–2.6 cm wide.
Distribution and occurrence: Locally abundant, but populations are sporadic, in dry sclerophyll woodlands on deep sandy soils, around Gunnedah and south to the northern Pilliga Scrub. Dry sclerophyll woodlands on deep sandy soils.
