Common name: Queensland Ebony
Lysiphyllum carronii (F.Muell.) Pedley APNI* Description: Tall shrub or small tree to c. 10 m high.
Leaves ovate in outline; pinnae 2, ovate-falcate, mostly 16–30 mm long, 10–20 mm wide, 4–7 veined.
Racemes short, 2–10-flowered. Flowers rusty brown. Calyx 10–12 mm long, base narrow-turbinate or tubular, free portion very shortly lobed, appressed-pubescent. Petals obovate, 12–15 mm long, silky outside. Stamens exserted; filaments 15–20 mm long.
Pod slightly convex when ripe, compressed, 5–12 cm long, 25–40 mm wide, calyx loose from stipe forming a membranous tubular sheath; seeds 1–6.
Flowering: spring and summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows on red sandy plains, rare.
