Lotononis bainesii Baker APNI* Description: Procumbent herb; stems to 1.5 m long, sparsely hairy.
Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets narrow-elliptic to obovate, 6–40 mm long, 2–10 mm wide, glabrous or sparsely hairy below or on margins, apex ± mucronate; petiole 1–5 cm long; stipules leafy, 4–8 mm long.
Flowers in dense, leaf-opposed heads; peduncles 7–17 cm long; bracteoles c. 1.5 mm long. Calyx c. 3 mm long, hairy. Corolla yellow, 6–10 mm long.
Pod ± terete, often falcate, 8–12 mm long, hairy; seeds c. 7, ± ovoid, c. 0.8 mm long, flat, red-brown.
Flowering: spring–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Naturalized, north from Nabiac. Native of S Afr.
