Lindsaea obtusa J.Sm. APNI* Description: Rhizome short creeping.
Fronds monomorphic, to 22 cm long; stipes closely spaced, greenish to stramineous or blackish, shorter than or longer than the lamina. Lamina 1-pinnate, pinnules closely spaced throughout, occassionally contiguous, most asymmetrically flabellate but smallest subdeltoid, shortly stalked, 5–18 mm long and 5–6 mm wide, generally decreasing in width from the base to the apex of the lamina, lower margin entire, upper margin coarsely and irregularly incised, and with minute scattered teeth; veins anastomosing. Sori 1–5 at vein endings, separated by incisions in the pinnule margin, but rarely continuous; indusium c. 0.5 mm wide, not extending to the pinnule margin, green, slightly paler than pinnule undersurface, entire to irregularly crenulate. Sporangia with 12–16 annulus cells. Spores trilete, reddish brown, surface minutely pitted (scrobiculate).

Lindsaea obtusa may be recognised by the combination of short-creeping rhizome, anastomosing veins, asymmetrically flabellate pinnules, and discontinuous sori.
