Linaria nigricans Lange APNI* Description: Annual, glabrous or minutely glandular-pubescent in inflorescence. Stems up to 17 cm long, bending, ascending, simple or freely branched.
Leaves, mostly alternate, the lowest whorled, 5 -12 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, linear oblong to broadly elliptical, obtuse, blackening on drying.
Racemes lax, with 3–8 flowers; pedicels 4–10 mm, exceeding bracts. Calyx 3–4 mm long, lobes oblong, subacute, equal. Corolla 11–13 mm long, violet or lilac, palate white; spur 7–8 mm long, straight.
Capsule 3.5–4 mm long; seeds c. 0.4 mm long, trigonous and crescent-shaped, minutely rugulose-tuberculate.
Flowering: Spring – Summer.
Distribution and occurrence: NT; Native of Spain. Found as a weed along railway tracks at Tenterfield.
