Leptospermum variabile Joy Thomps. APNI* 
Description: Shrub 1–2 m high or tree to > 5 m, bark close, becoming scaly and rough, younger stems silky but glabrescent; new growth reddish.
Leaves aromatic, obovate to oblanceolate or elliptic, mostly 10–20 mm long, 2–8 mm wide, flat, glabrous, apex distinctly folded, base tapering; virtually sessile.
Flowers solitary, c. 15 mm diam., white. Hypanthium conspicuously glandular, 4–6 mm long, glabrous. Sepals c. 3 mm long, glabrous. Petals 6–8 mm long. Stamens 3–4 mm long. Ovary 5-locular.
Fruit variable, 5–12 mm diam., pedicel absent in older fruit, valves rarely spreading beyond the rim.
Flowering: mostly September and October
Distribution and occurrence: In heath, on rocky summits or ridge tops, north from Taree district.
