Lemna trisulca L. APNI* 
Description: Herb suspended below water surface, except when flowering or fruiting; roots absent.
Thallus narrow-ovate to narrow-oblong, thin and translucent greenish; veins not visible, midvein sometimes indistinct; base narrowed to a distinct stalk 1–13 mm long; apex obtuse to oblique-truncate or broad-emarginate and slightly irregular or minutely toothed.
Colony made up of generations at 90° to the previous one.
Flowering: not recorded in Aust.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in or at the edge of fast flowing freshwater in mud or attached to rocks; west to Burrinjuck Dam area.
NSW subdivisions: NC, NT, ST, CWS, SWS
Other Australian states: Qld Vic. Tas. W.A.
Lemna was formerly placed in family Lemnaceae.
