Description: Geniculate ascending, ± tufted annual to 0.7 m high; culms c. 4-noded.
Leaves with sheath sometimes becoming loose from the culm; ligule obtuse or laciniate, 2–3 mm long; blade flat, shallowly grooved, 1.5–2.5 mm wide.
Panicle shortly exserted from the uppermost sheath, 15–25 cm long, with numerous spreading branches. Spikelets c. 2 mm long. Glumes equal, ovate, ± acute, with membranous margins. Lemma oblong-lanceolate, broadly truncate or minutely 5-toothed, 1.4–1.7 mm long, unawned. Palea subequal to the lemma, firmly membranous.
Flowering: Spring–Summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in woodland on the coast and coastal ranges; south from Bega.
