Description: Prostrate or twining herb; stems ± whitish pubescent.
Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets ± circular, rarely broad-obovate, mostly 0.6–2.4 cm long, 1.5–2 cm wide, margins undulate, upper surface ± glabrous, lower surface pubescent; stipules cordate.
Flowers mostly 1 or 2; peduncles 1–3 cm long; bracts stipule-like, 2–4 mm long. Calyx 6–8 mm long. Corolla 15–20 mm long, scarlet; standard obovate with a yellow callus at base.
Pod ± cylindrical, 3–5 cm long, pubescent; seeds 5–8, ovoid.
Flowering: late winter to spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows on rocky outcrops, mainly coastal or inland districts; south from Port Stephens.
