Description: Woody climber or scrambler, young stems tomentose.
Leaves 3-foliolate with terminal leaflet largest; leaflets broad-ovate or elliptic, mostly 1.5–4.5 cm long, 15–25 mm wide, glabrous above, apex acute or rounded, base rounded or truncate, margins entire, domatia small, present along midvein; petiole mostly 4–15 mm long, petiolule of terminal leaflet usually 4–12 mm long.
Inflorescences axillary, cymose, usually (1–)3–5-flowered. Calyx tube 1.5–2 mm long; lobes 5, 0.5–1 mm long. Corolla red or purplish outside, whitish on inner surface; tube 7–9 mm long, lobes 5, 3–4 mm long.
Berry ± globose, 8–9 mm diam., black.
Flowering: winter–spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows mostly on margins of warmer rainforest, North from Dorrigo area.
