Description: Rhizome long-creeping, 4–8 mm diam., densely covered with pale brown hairs at the tip.
Fronds erect, mostly 0.7–1.2 m long; stipe red-brown at the base, becoming yellow-brown above; stipe and rachises covered with colourless non-glandular hairs; lamina dark green, broad-triangular, thin-textured, 2-pinnate at apex and usually at least 4-pinnate at base; ultimate segments narrow, lobed.
Sori on the upper margin of each ultimate segment, protected by a conspicuous false indusium that is at least partly colourless and membranous.
Distribution and occurrence: in open places on forest margins. Not recently collected in mainland N.S.W. or Victoria, may now be confined to LHI.
