Description: Tree to 10 m.
Leaves alternate, lamina ovate, 5–12 cm long, 3–8 cm wide, apex acuminate, base often asymmetric, margins finely toothed, glabrous except for small hairy domatia on lower surface; petiole 1–5 cm long, with small tooth-like glands near junction with lamina.
Inflorescences terminal and in upper axils, cymose-paniculate, very sparsely hairy. Flowers small, whitish.
Fruit globose, 3–6 mm diam., greenish, borne on the ends of the enlarged, succulent, contorted peduncles; peduncles 3–7 mm diam., reddish brown, edible.
Distribution and occurrence: Cultivated, occasionally naturalized in or near rainforest.
