Homoranthus flavescens A.Cunn. ex Schauer APNI*
Description: Spreading shrub to 0.5 m high and to > 1 m in diam.
or rarely erect and up to c. 1 m high; glabrous, young parts often glaucous.
Leaves bilaterally flattened to terete, usually 6–10 mm long and up to 1.5 mm wide. Flowers solitary on a peduncle 1–3 mm long, forming conspicuous clusters towards end of branchlets; bracteoles shed before anthesis. Hypanthium narrow-obconical, 3.5–5 mm long, strongly 5-ribbed, smooth to glandular between ribs. Sepals 1.5–2.5 mm long. Petals up to 1 mm long, yellow to reddish. Style exceeding petals by 4–8 mm.
Flowering: late spring to summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in heath and dry sclerophyll forest on sandy or skeletal soils, sometimes amongst rocks; north from the Dubbo district.
NSW subdivisions: NT, NWS, CWS, NWP
A variable species with different forms existing in the Pilliga, Warrumbungle N.P. and Mt Kaputar N.P.
