Description: Shrub to 1.5 m high; stems ± square, 4-ribbed, glabrous to finely scabrous.
Leaves opposite up to inflorescence, narrow-lanceolate to oblong, 40–100 mm long, 5–25 mm wide, margins toothed to almost entire; sessile or petiole up to 10 mm long.
Dichasia mostly 3–7-flowered (7–15-flowered in var. exalata); flowers pedicellate. Petals 2.5–3.3 mm long, yellowish green to reddish.
Fruit usually 1–3 per axil, ovoid to pyriform, 2–2.5 mm long, 4-ribbed between the sepals, smooth to corrugated between the ribs.
Distribution and occurrence: in damp places near watercourses; rare.
