Description: Bushy shrub 1–2 m high, young growth sparsely pubescent.
Leaves crowded, terete, 2–5 cm long, c. 1 mm diam., glabrous, mucro 1–2 mm long.
Conflorescences axillary, clusters few-flowered. Perianth 3–4 mm long, glabrous; yellowish in forms from the higher altitudes, white in coastal forms; pedicels 2–4 mm long, villous.
Follicle globose to obovoid, 30–40 mm long, 25–30 mm wide, very rough with acute warty protuberances, with or without a very small beak.
Flowering: winter and spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows mainly on the coastal plateaus and adjacent ranges from Woy Woy to the Royal N.P., widespread on the Blue Mtns.
