Hakea pachyphylla Sieber ex Spreng. APNI* 
Description: Compact shrub 0.3–2 m high, young growth sparsely pubescent; lignotuber absent.
Leaves crowded, terete, 1–5 cm long, 1–1.8 mm diam., glabrescent, mucro 1–2 mm long.
Conflorescences axillary, clusters 1–7-flowered; rachis knob-like, white-tomentose; pedicels 2–3.3 mm long, pubescent. Perianth 1.5–2 mm long, yellow; ± glabrous. Gynoecium 3.5–4.5 mm long; pollen presenter an oblique disc.
Follicle globose to obovoid, 29–35 mm long, 23–26 mm wide, coarsely warty; beak short and broad, smooth to sparsely warty, decurrent down both sides; horns obscure or absent.
Flowering: Flowers October
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in heath or mallee-heath, usually on exposed sites, sometimes in swampy areas or along creeks, confined to the Upper Blue Mtns.
