Description: Erect bushy shrub, 0.4–1.2 m high, young stems coarsely hairy.
Leaves linear, 6–12 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, ± glabrous.
Flowers in terminal heads, yellow. Hypanthium c. 8 mm long. Sepals 2–3 mm long. Petals scale-like, 8. Stamens 8.
Fruit small.
Distribution and occurrence: Sometimes cultivated, rarely naturalized in cooler districts. Native of Afr.
