Galium tricornutum Dandy APNI* Synonyms: Galium tricorne Stokes APNI*
Description: Scrambling annual; stems ± stout to 1 m long, with short retrorse hairs on angles, otherwise glabrous.
Leaves and stipules in whorls of 6–8, oblanceolate, 10–50 mm long, 1–4 mm wide, apex obtuse, long aristate, margins with retrorse prickles, otherwise ± glabrous; petiole minute.
Inflorescences usually 3-flowered; peduncles to 1.5 cm long; pedicels 1–8 mm long, curved inwards and downwards after flowering. Flowers to 1 mm long, whitish.
Fruit 3–5 mm wide, densely covered with tubercles.
Flowering: mainly August–January
Distribution and occurrence: Weed of cultivated land, rubbish tips. Native of Eur. & Asia.
