Description: Erect annual herb 19–45 cm high, branches with short recurved white non-glandular hairs in 4 rows.
Upper stem leaves usually ovate to elliptic, sometimes oblong-elliptic, mostly 5.5–11 mm long and 2.4–4.5 mm wide, margins with 1–3 pairs of teeth.
Racemes ± lax, usually 16–26-flowered. Calyx 3.0–6.0 mm long, scabrous. Corolla 10.5–16.5 mm long, blue, or deep purple to mauve, occasionally midline of lower lip yellow; tube 6.0–9.8 mm long, glabrous at base. Stamen filaments usually glabrous, anthers 1.3–2.0 mm long, anterior connectives glabrous, others hairy.
Capsule 4.0–6.8 mm long, bristly in upper half.
Flowering: January–May.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in grassy sites or near bogs or swamps, and in subalpine woodland; chiefly in the Barrington Tops area, north to Deepwater.
NSW subdivisions: NT
Threatened species: NSW BCA: Vulnerable
Possibly extinct outside the Barrington and Gloucester Tops area.
