Eragrostis trichophora Coss. & Durieu APNI* Description: Tufted perennial to 1(-1.5) m high, sometimes stoloniferous; glabrous rootbase.
Leaves with sheath smooth and glabrous, or sparsely tuberculate; orifice [to be checked]; ligule a ciliate rim with hairs 0.5–1mm long; blade flat or convolute, to 4 mm wide, scaberulous especially on upper surface, glabrous.
Inflorescence contracted at first but becoming open, usually <40% of plant height, to 27 cm long, 3–12 cm wide; branches slender, [spreading? - to be checked]; primary branches naked for up to 2.2 cm, glabrous, scaberulous; pedicels [to be checked] mm long. Spikelets to 4.5 mm long, c. 1 mm wide, florets 5–7; rachilla disarticulating or persistent, weakly flexuose, with apical vestige. Glumes 1.3–1.8 mm long, subequal or the upper longer. Lemmas c. 1.5 mm long, broad-obtuse. Palea equal to lemma, persistent or deciduous with rachilla internode; keels glabrous, mostly smooth.
Flowering: summer.
Distribution and occurrence: From Narrabri to Moree district. Also naturalised in Central Australia (Alice Springs). Native to Africa. Roadsides, drains and other disturbed sites on sandy loam.

Possibly introduced as a contaminant of seed of Eragrostis curvula. Also sometimes known as E. cylindriflora Hochst. (nomenclature still to be verified).
