Epilobium ciliatum Raf. APNI* 
Description: Erect, often well-branched perennial to c. 200 cm high; stems sparsely hairy with crisped hairs often restricted to lines decurrent from the leaf bases, glandular hairs present in the flowering region.
Leaves lanceolate, 2.5–8 cm long, 5–24 mm wide, with numerous tiny teeth, petiole 1–2 mm long.
Flowers with a conspicuous ring of long hairs inside the hypanthium. Petals to 5.5 mm long, purplish pink or white.
Fruit 4.5–8.5 cm long, with short dense, partly glandular pubescence; pedicel 3–10 mm long; seeds c. 1 mm long, the papillae on the surface in longitudinal lines, comose.
Flowering: spring–autumn.
Distribution and occurrence: Widely naturalized in southern districts. Native of N Amer.
