Eleocharis cylindrostachys Boeckeler APNI* 
Description: Perennial with very short rhizome.
Culms tufted, terete, mostly 30–50 cm high, 1–1.5 mm diam.
Spikelet cylindrical, 5–20 mm long. Glumes obtuse, with midrib distinct, 2.2–3.5 mm long, straw-coloured often tinged red-brown. Bristles rather stout, flattened, closely and retrorsely toothed, about as long as nut together with style base. Stamens 3; anthers 0.6–1.3 mm long. Style 3-fid.
Nut biconvex, with angles ± acute and strongly ribbed, obovoid, 1.1–1.25 mm long, 0.7–0.9 mm diam., smooth, shining, yellowish to dark brown; external cells very minute; style base a third to half as long as and half to two-thirds as broad as nut.
Flowering: spring–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: North from Sydney, extending west to Yetman and Warrumbungle Ranges. Also Queensland. Grows in moist situations.
