Description: Spreading shrub to 2 m high.
Leaves simple, angular-obovate to oblanceolate, 0.5–1.8 cm long and 2–5 mm wide, apex 3- or rarely 4-toothed, base attenuate, margin entire, upper surface usually concave or folded lengthwise, glabrous; sessile.
Flowers in terminal few-flowered cymes or solitary; pedicels mostly 3–8 mm long. Sepals 4, lanceolate to ovate, 1.3–2.4 mm long, persistent. Stamens 8. Ovary glabrous or rarely pubescent.
Capsule 4-winged, 7–12.5 mm long, 8–12.5 mm wide, glabrous; wings 2–3.5 mm wide.
Distribution and occurrence: Widespread in semi-arid areas in open woodland and hummock grassland usually in sandy soil.
