Description: Hemispherical annual or short-lived perennial woody herb; branches covered with woolly hairs.
Leaves semiterete, to 10 mm long, 1–2 mm diam., covered with woolly hairs.
Flowers in dense woody clusters of 8–12, fused for about two-thirds their length, the upper perianth free, lobed; spines irregular, flattened or cylindrical, between the flowers.
