Deyeuxia appressa Vickery APNI* 
Description: Erect perennial to 0.9 m high.
Leaves with ligule membranous, truncate, jagged and laciniate, 1–2 mm long; blade 2–4 mm wide, deeply grooved, lower surface scabrous, upper pubescent.
Panicle contracted, linear to narrow-lanceolate, 20–30 cm long, lobed, moderately dense, the branches appressed or slightly spreading, 3- or 4-nate, the ultimate branches bearing spikelets racemosely. Spikelets c. 3.5 mm long, rather strongly laterally compressed. Glumes slightly unequal, 1-nerved, keeled, very acute, narrowly gaping. Lemma narrow-lanceolate, not exceeding glumes, minutely scaberulous, 5-nerved, narrow-truncate or obscurely toothed at the apex, with a dorsal awn arising c. 1 mm from the apex; awn c. 5 mm long, much exserted, fine, reflexed; callus barbed with fine hairs, 0.2–1.2 mm long. Palea shorter than lemma. .
Flowering: spring–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows on wet ground; in the Hornsby area.
