Description: Erect shrub 20–80 cm high.
Leaves laterally compressed, 7–11 mm long, glabrous.
Flowers in clusters of 2–8, crowded; peduncles 1–2 mm long; bracts usually leaf-like, 1–11 mm long; bracteoles lanceolate, 2–3.5 mm long, yellow-brown to reddish. Hypanthium 4–6 mm long, c. 0.5 mm diam., obscurely ribbed, rarely faintly papillose. Sepals triangular, < 0.5 mm long, entire or toothed. Petals 0.5–1 mm long. Style straight or curved, 4–6.5 mm long, white.
Flowering: late autumn to early spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in heath on poorly drained sandy soils; on the coast and ranges, from Laurieton to Clyde R.
