Description: Shrub or bushy tree to 15 m high, branchlets herbaceous, with conspicuous lenticels; new growth and inflorescences with appressed hairs.
Leaves obovate to elliptic, 8–20 cm long, 20–65 mm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate, margins regularly toothed, lamina soft and thin, ± glabrous, secondary veins strongly curved; petiole 15–45 mm long.
Panicles 8–18 cm long, usually only slightly shorter than leaves. Calyx c. 2 mm long. Petals 3–4 mm long, white.
Capsule globose to ovoid, 3–4 mm long.
Flowering: October–December
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in subtropical and warm-temperate rainforest, especially along margins and in regrowth, often along smaller watercourses; north from Landsdowne R.
