Crotalaria virgulata Klotzsch APNI*
Description: Erect annual or perennial shrub to 2 m high.
Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets obovate or narrow-obovate, terminal leaflets 0.7–2.5 cm long, 3–8 mm wide, distinctly longer than laterals, upper surface glabrous and ± stippled, lower surface appressed pubescent to hoary; petiole 4–15 mm long; stipules 1–2 mm long.
Racemes mostly to 5 cm long, 1–8-flowered; pedicels 2–4 mm long. Calyx 4–5 mm long, pubescent. Corolla 6–8 mm long, yellow with purple-brown colouring; wings shorter than keel; keel incurved sharply near base, beak 6.5–8 mm long, twisted at apex.
Pod 13–18 mm long, pubescent; seeds c. 3 mm long, brown.
Flowering: autumn.
Distribution and occurrence: Naturalized, from Coollongolook to Grafton district. Native of Afr.
