Description: Erect shrub 50–80 cm high with virgate branches, hoary-tomentose to glabrous.
Leaves ascending to spreading, linear to terete (width:thickness of 1.1:1.8), 0.5–2.5 cm long, < 1 mm wide, glabrous.
Inflorescences paniculate; peduncles ascending, 3–6 cm long. Perianth 6–7 mm long, cream to white.
Nut 2–3 mm long, hairy.
Flowering: spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in heath and shrubby woodland, typically in wet coastal on shallow sandy soil on sandstone; chiefly on the coast from Toukley to Port Jackson, also recorded in Nowra-Jervis Bay area.
NSW subdivisions: NC, CC, SC
Intermediates between this species and C. taxifolium are found in areas where they grow together.
