Description: Erect annual herb to c. 1 m high, ± hairy.
Leaves linear to lanceolate, 3–7 cm long, 6–15 mm wide, apex acute, margins usually entire; ± sessile.
Calyx obconic, 7–10 mm long, glandular-hairy. Corolla ± narrowly funnel-shaped with spreading lobes, c. 25 mm long, buff or salmon-pink; lobes c. 5 mm long. Stamens unequally inserted, unequal in length.
Capsule obovoid, c. 5 mm long; 2-locular, 1 seed in each loculus.
Flowering: summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Weed of disturbed areas, often at higher altitudes; widespread, but not common. Native of N Amer.
