Description: Woody climber, glabrous.
Leaves opposite; lamina oblanceolate to obovate or narrow-elliptic, mostly 4–16 cm long, 2–7 cm wide, apex acute or acuminate, sometimes obtuse, base narrow-cuneate, margins ± recurved, reticulate venation faint, lamina glabrous with 5–12 pit-like domatia in vein axils; petiole mostly 5–20 mm long.
Flowers in terminal, cymose panicles. Calyx truncate or minutely toothed. Corolla c. 9 mm long, white to pale yellow; lobes ± equal to tube.
Fruit ± globose, mostly 10–15 mm diam., red to purplish or blackish.
Flowering: spring–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in littoral and subtropical rainforest, north from Clarence R.; no common.
