Christella hispidula (Decne.) Holttum APNI*
Description: Rhizome erect or short-creeping, covered with dark brown scales 7–10 mm long and c. 1 mm wide.
Fronds 30–70 cm high; stipe to 20 cm long, pale or flushed with red, bearing pale hairs; lamina pale green, 1-pinnate with pinnae deeply pinnatifid, to 50 cm long, pale green; basal 2–4 pairs of pinnae gradually reducing in size, basal pinnae 1.5–3 cm long; pinnae with lower surface bearing fine hairs and short capitate hairs on the veins, lobes cut three-quarters of way to midrib.
Sori circular, indusium small and hairy.
Distribution and occurrence: along stream banks in rainforest or open forest; rare in N.S.W., recorded from lower Hunter Valley.
