Description: Small ± erect shrub to c. 50 cm high, glabrous, with woody rootstock.
Leaves alternate, often ± clustered; lamina linear or occasionally lanceolate, usually 2–5 cm long, 2–4 mm wide, margins usually incurved or involute, entire or toothed or lobed in the apical half with teeth and lobes to c. 3 mm long; sessile.
Flowers solitary or 2–5 together in short erect pedunculate racemes or corymbs. Petals obovate, 15–20 mm long, blue. Anthers 3.4–4 mm long.
Capsules ± oblong-obovate, 12–18 mm long, flattened, tardily dehiscent loculicidally into 2 valves; valves splitting septicidally later; seeds many.
Flowering: summer–autumn.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in sclerophyll woodland and forest, sometimes on disturbed sites on sandy or stony soils; widespread, west from the Kurrajong–Richmond area.
