Chamaecrista rotundifolia (Pers.) Greene APNI*
Description: Prostrate annual herb; stems pubescent, with hairs long, straight and shortly curved.
Leaves usually 1–3 cm long, with 1 pair leaflets; leaflets asymmetrically ± circular to broad-ovate, 7–25 mm long, 5–30 mm wide, surfaces glabrous to sparsely hairy, margins sometimes ciliate, apex rounded; petiole 3–4 mm long, gland absent; stipules lanceolate to cordate, to 10 mm long.
Flowers 1 or 2 in axils; pedicels 1.5–4 cm long, and lengthening to 5 cm in fruit. Petals obovate, c. 6 mm long, subequal. Stamens 5; anthers to 2 mm long. Ovary pubescent.
Pods straight, 1.5–4 cm long, 3–5 mm wide; moderately to very sparsely hairy with spreading hairs.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in riverine forest and on sand dunes, sparingly naturalized in coastal areas; north from the Orara R. Native of S Amer.
