Centrolepis polygyna (R.Br.) Hieron. APNI* 
Description: Tufted annual herb 1–7 cm high.
Leaves few-many, not distichous, glabrous; lamina 3–12 mm long, 0.5–0.8 mm wide.
Scapes terete, 1–6 cm long, glabrous, rarely reduced and the head subsessile; head ± cylindrical, 3–5 mm long, 0.7–1 mm wide. Primary bracts opposite, closely sheathing, outer bract with sheath passing abruptly into ± recurved lamina 3–20 mm long, inner bract lacking lamina; sheath cartilaginous, brown, margins sometimes paler, glabrous. Pseudanthia 1–3, bisexual; secondary bracts absent or rarely 1, < 1.8 mm long, brown, scarious. Female flowers 6–30.
Seeds ovoid, 0.5–0.8 mm long.
Flowering: July–November
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in woodland, sclerophyll forest, heath, scrub, lake margins and mallee on sands and other infertile soils; south and west from Wellington-Talbragar district.
