Centrolepis eremica D.A.Cooke APNI* 
Description: Annual rigid herb 2–4.5 cm high.
Leaves few-many, not distichous, not keeled, glabrous; sheath scarious; lamina 5–12 mm long, 0.5–0.8 mm wide; uppermost leaf reduced to a scarious sheath c. 2 mm long, glabrous.
Scapes terete, wiry, 1–3 cm long, glabrous; head ovoid-conic, 2–3.5 mm long. Primary bracts opposite, closely sheathing, outer bract with sheath abruptly passing into lamina, inner bract lacking lamina; sheath cartilaginous, brown, glabrous. Pseudanthia 4–10, bisexual or a few lacking stamen; secondary bracts absent. Female flowers 6–20 per pseudanthium.
Seeds ovoid, c. 0.5 mm long.
Flowering: July–September
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in temporary water on margins of streams, lakes etc.; scattered localities west of Cobham Lake.
