Description: Shrub, often procumbent and less than 1 m high; young branchlets moderately hairy with erect, uniseriate hairs on a triangular base of several cells, branches with numerous spines.
Leaves clustered around spinescent short shoots, glabrous; seedling leaves elliptic, 8–12 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide, glabrous, margin dentate; adult leaves narrow-elliptic, 6–9 mm long, 1–3 mm wide; margin thickened, entire.
Inflorescences 1-, 2-flowered or reduced few-flowered botrya at ends of branchlets; pedicels 2–5 mm long. Sepals 1.5–4.5 mm long, cream-oloured. Petals 4–6 mm long, white.
Capsule 5–6 mm long, 5–8 mm wide, concave; apex emarginate to obcordate; seeds 1–3 per locule, unevenly winged.
Flowering: Flowers mainly summer; mature fruit in late autumn–early winter.
Distribution and occurrence: Restricted to the Blue Mountains region of the Central Tablelands and Central Coast. This species prefers south-facing sandstone cliffs and bluffs, and disturbed areas, growing in dry sclerophyll forest or woodland.
