Description: Perennial herb, slightly pubescent.
Leaves ovate to broad-ovate, mostly 0.5–4 cm long, margins toothed to crenate, 3-veined from near base; petiole 0.5–5 cm long; stipules minute, shed early.
Axillary clusters mostly 1–5-flowered.
Achene 1–2 mm long.
Distribution and occurrence: Widespread in moist shady situations in forests.
NSW subdivisions: NC, CC, SC, NT, CT, ST
Other Australian states: Qld Vic. Tas.
There may be more than one taxon included under this species. A weak diffuse form in or near rainforest on wet rocks is recorded south from the upper Williams R. A form with larger leaves (lamina mostly 2.5–5 cm long) found at higher altitudes in Nothofagus moorei forest is sometimes called A. muelleri Wedd.
