Description: Spreading annual to c. 40 cm high, monoecious.
Leaves elliptic, to 6 cm long, apex acute to obtuse, margins sinuate-toothed; petiolate.
Flowers in axillary clusters. Fruiting bracteoles subglobose, acute, 3–4 mm long, with a short stipe-like base; appendages absent. A widespread colonizing species, often ± weedy.
