Asterolasia rupestris B.J.Mole APNI* Description: Upright shrub to 1.5 m high.
Leaves obcordate to obtriangular, 0.9–2 cm long, 6–15 mm wide, apex emarginate, sometimes truncate, base attenuate, slightly conduplicate, margins flat or recurved, upper surface densely stellate-hairy, lower surface cobwebbed with stalked stellate hairs; sessile or shortly petiolate, petiole when present somewhat thickened and flat, often appressed to the stem.
Flowers terminal or axillary, in umbels of 3–6 flowers; peduncles 4–9 mm long; pedicels 6–15 mm long. Petals 5–9 mm long, yellow, outer surface with rusty stellate hairs.
Cocci stellate-hairy, beaked.
Flowering: Flowers spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Higher parts of Mt Kaputar N.P. and from near Parlour Mountain (NW of Armidale), also collected at Mt Canobolas in the 1950s. Grows in heath, shrubland and woodland communities, generally restricted to skeletal soils on trachyte outcrops.
