Aristida strigosa (Henrard) S.T.Blake ex J.M.Black APNI*
Description: Tussocky perennial to c. 1 m high; culms branched, rigid, terete, scaberulous.
Leaves with sheath strongly striate, scabrous or scaberulous, abruptly narrowed at junction with blade; ligule 0.5–1 mm long; blade conduplicate to convolute or flat, strongly striate, long-scabrous on upper surface.
Panicle spike-like, dense, usually continuous, 10–30 cm long, branches erect. Glumes slightly unequal, cuspidate to aristulate, smooth or scaberulous. Lemma 8.5–12 mm long, with distinct long bristly hairs towards the apex; awns flattened at the base, filiform apically, subequal, to 18 mm long.
Flowering: in response to rain.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in gullies in stony hilly areas, on sandy soils; in the Tibooburra area.
