Aristida spuria Domin APNI* 
Description: Slender tufted perennial forming compact tufts to 0.6 m high, sometimes flowering in the first year and apparently annual; culms erect, thin, few-noded.
Leaves with sheath tight, striate, glabrous or pilose; ligule < 0.5 mm long; blade convolute, very narrow, 1–15 mm wide, bristly, striate, flexuous, scabrous on the upper surface and on the margins.
Panicle linear, interrupted, 12–30 cm long, branches distant. Glumes linear-lanceolate, acuminate, subequal, 6–11 mm long, usually glabrous, smooth. Lemma narrow-linear, body of lemma 6–13 mm long, minutely scabrous near the apex, column 4–11 mm long, awns dissimilar, to 20 mm long.
Flowering: in response to rain.
Distribution and occurrence: Usually grows on rocky mountains or hillsides; north from Inverell.
