Aristida nitidula (Henrard) S.T.Blake ex J.M.Black APNI* 
Description: Compact tufted perennial to 0.7 m high; culms usually simple.
Leaves with sheath strongly striate, abruptly narrowed at junction with blade, tuberculate-scabrous; ligule 0.5–1 mm long; blade conduplicate, strongly striate, stiff, bristly, c. 1 mm wide, tuberculate-scabrous.
Panicle narrow and spike-like, sometimes interrupted in the lower part or continuous, 11–23 cm long. Glumes subequal, scaberulous or smooth, the lower acuminate to aristulate, the upper obtuse, mucronate. Lemma convolute, 6–8.5 mm long, densely spiny-tuberculate towards the apex; awns subequal, flattened, to 15 mm long.
Flowering: in response to rain.
Distribution and occurrence: Usually grows on hills and stony sites.
