Aristida anthoxanthoides (Domin) Henrard APNI* 
Description: Slender, tufted, annual or short-lived perennial, to 0.5 m high; culms erect, terete or sometimes compressed, simple or sparsely branched.
Leaves with sheath abruptly narrowed at junction with blade, usually scabrous; ligule c. 0.5 mm long; blade conduplicate or sometimes flat, c. 1 mm wide, long-scabrous on upper surface, strongly striate.
Panicle dense, oblong, spike-like, 3–10 cm long. Glumes 4–7 mm long, unequal, smooth or sparsely scaberulous, entire or notched, lower acute, upper obtuse. Lemma strongly nerved, 5–7 mm long; awns equal, flattened, 10–15 mm long.
Flowering: summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Usually grows on heavy soils.
