Aristida acuta S.T.Blake APNI*
Description: Tufted perennial to 1.25 m high; culms thin, usually terete, few-noded, smooth.
Leaves with sheath strongly striate, scaberulous or smooth, glabrous; ligule < 0.5 mm long; blade usually convolute and bristly, strongly striate, 1–2 mm wide, long-scabrous on upper surface.
Panicle contracted, loose to open, sparse, 15–30 cm long, branches few, distant, lax to widely spreading. Glumes linear to ovate, 7.5–15 mm long, unequal, lower long-acuminate, upper abruptly acuminate. Lemma linear to elliptic, 7–9 mm long, pallid with purple spots; awns flattened to concave in the lower part and filiform upwards, to 22 mm long.
Flowering: summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Usually grows in open forest.
