Common name: Long-nosed swamp wallaby grass
Amphibromus macrorhinus S.W.L.Jacobs & Lapinpuro APNI* 
Description: Tufted perennial to 1 m high; culms erect, terete to slightly flattened, 1–2.5 mm wide, glabrous to slightly scabrous, 2–4-noded.
Leaves with sheath glabrous to slightly scabrous, ribbed; ligule long-acute, 6–17 mm long; blade 1.5–4 mm long, glabrous to scabrous, upper surface deeply ribbed.
Panicle erect, contracted to open, to 40 cm long. Spikelets 10–17 mm long, with 4 or 5 florets. Glumes unequal to subequal; lower 3- or 4-nerved, upper 5-nerved. Lemmas very roughly papillose, 5.3–7.9 mm long, 7-nerved; apex 4-toothed; awn arising 50–60% of the lemma length from the lemma tip, bent, slightly to moderately twisted. Palea 65–95% the length of the lemma, slightly papillose on the back.
Flowering: in response to rain or flooding.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows on floodplains and banks of inland and coastal rivers.
