Inflorescences solitary, erect; peduncle 120–400 mm long; bracts and bracteoles narrowly ovate or linear with gibbous base; corolla 10–20 mm long, violet or rarely white with 3 prominent yellow ridges basally; upper corolla lip apex rounded or emarginate; lower lip depressed obovate, longer than the corolla spur.
Capsule globose, c. 7 mm long.
Flowering: October–March.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows between Uralla and Llangothlin on the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales. Known only from six semi-permanent lagoons in the New South Wales New England Bioregion. Occurs in shallow, semi-permanent montane swamps over clayloam on basalt substrates.
NSW subdivisions: NT
All lagoons and swamps of the Northern Tablelands have been well surveyed, and it is, therefore, unlikely it is more widespread than is already known. Given that only one of the known populations is within a protected reserve, we recommend that this subspecies be considered Vulnerable, with urgent conservation measures required.
