Psydrax odorata subsp. australiana S.T.Reynolds & R.J.F.Hend. APNI* Description: Young branchlets, peduncles abd pedicels glabrous, rarely subglabrous.
Petioles 0.25–0.6 cm long. Leaf blades 3.5–9.3 cm long, 1.4–5.2 cm wide, with apex obtuse, acute, subacute or shortly acuminate and base subacute and attenuate into petiole; glossy on upper surface, dull and opaque below; domatia 1–3 on each side of midrib.
Inflorescences with densely flowered branches 15–100-flowered. Flowers 4- (rarely 5) merous; corolla lobes sublanceolate, 3.5–5.0 mm long, fleshy.
Fruit broad depressed ovoid, slightly rugose.
Distribution and occurrence:
NSW subdivisions: NC, CWS
Other Australian states: Qld
This subspecies varies considerably in attributes of its leaves. Overall 3 forms are formally recognised however they are sometimes intergrade. Psydrax odorata f. australiana and f. subnitita occur in NSW. Psydrax odorata f. foveolata is confined to north Queensland.
