Geranium purpureum subsp. purpureum Vill. APNI* 
Description: Ascending to decumbent annual or biennial herb to 40 cm high, softly hairy; stems hairy with coarse minute glandular hairs and a line of small crisped ones; taproot thin.
Leaves mostly opposite, palmatisect to ternately compound with lamina ovate to broad-ovate in outline, 2–5 cm long, 3–7 cm wide, 3–9-lobed, lobes ± pinnatisect and toothed, with scattered hairs; petiole to 10 cm long.
Flowers paired; peduncle to 6 cm long; pedicels to 10 mm long. Sepals 6–7 mm long. Petals 6–9 mm long, bright pink. Anthers yellow.
Fruit 12–22 mm long; mericarps mostly glabrous except for tuft of long white hairs near apex, wrinkled; seeds pale brown, smooth.
Flowering: September–January
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in disturbed sites, restricted to the Wellington district. Native of Eur.
