Description: Herb 15–30 cm high, branches glandular and non-glandular hairy.
Uppermost leaves of main inflorescence-bearing axes usually with 2–4 pairs of teeth. The number of upper internodes on main inflorescence-bearing axes as long or longer than the upper leaves usually 4–8, the longest internode 2.2–4.0 or more times the length of the upper leaves. Leaves 8–12 mm long, 5–10 mm wide, margins with usually 2–4 pairs of teeth.
Bracts and outer surface of calyx with glandular hairs, sometimes mixed with non-glandular hairs. Glandular indumentum on outer surface of calyx >0.1 mm long. Corolla 11–16 mm long, white or purplish to pink with colour confined to lobes and with tube and area behind lobes white with yellow blotch behind lowest lobe. Anthers 1.8–2.6 mm long; yellow blotch on lower corolla lip always present.
Seeds usually 1.1–1.7 mm long.
Flowering: Flowers January–February
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in tall alpine herbfield and also in heath and drier sites of sod tussock grassland in the alpine and subalpine tracts of the Snowy Mtns.
